Therapy

Speech and language impairments may include a vast array of symptoms. These deficits can reduce the ability to express wants, needs, and/or understand your loved ones. Treatment will be individualized to determine the best method to achieve your goals. Call Neurogenix regarding an evaluation if you or your loved one is experiencing the following symptoms:

Speech (Dysarthria or Apraxia)

  • Slurred speech, may sound “drunk”

  • Increased or reduced loudness

  • Fast or slow rate of speech

  • Quality of speech- breathy, hoarse

  • Difficulty breathing while speaking

  • Trouble repeating sounds

  • Inability to plan/program movement of articulators

Language (Aphasia)

  • Difficulty understanding conversations

  • Word finding issues

  • Using “gibberish”

  • Trouble reading or writing

  • Benefiting from extra time to process information

  • Switching words (“cat” instead of “dog”)
